Decide when you want to study abroad.
You can study abroad as soon as your sophomore year as a UC student, and you can study abroad in any term. You can take a quarter, a semester, even a year or more abroad. It takes time to plan study abroad into your academics. Start with what you want to get out of the experience.
While you’re abroad, do you want to …
Earn credit in your major?
OR
Fulfill general requirements?
You can earn UC credit almost anywhere in the world, so start with the places you can’t wait to visit.

After you find the perfect location, select the term you want to study abroad.
If major credit is your goal, look for programs that apply to your field.

After you find a program that fits, you can select the term you want to study abroad.
Don't forget language! You can study abroad and take classes in English, or you can expand your language skills by immersing in the language you want to be fluent in.
